Prequel (part 6): Planning Trip, Maria
Just after Christmas Maria announces that she is coming back to England. She is going to do a repeat of last summer and stay at the same house, performing au pair duties. Her brother is not coming this time and after hearing of his experiences last time, I’m not too surprised to read this. While they were not bad they were certainly physical.
We agree that this summer we should meet up. For me July would be easier than August. Perhaps June would be a little early as Maria arrives during the middle of that month. She would need some time to settle in.
In time we agree to meet in July. I will come down to the south coast in my little Fiesta and will stay at a local B&B in Worthing. I will come down and see her for just a couple of days. I’ll arrive in the town on Friday and leave on Sunday, so it’s just enough time for a “hello” and I won’t feel like I’m over-staying in the area.
I am planning a trip, I’m guessing it’s a 2 hour drive roughly from my town to Worthing. Once I get near to Oxford I’m pretty sure there is a road which goes down somewhere near the south coast but I’m not 100% sure. Who cares for now, I just need a bed to sleep on for my stay. This is the first time I’m planning a trip and so I consider this a priority search. I’m sure doing a search online will be far easy and far less time-consuming than trying to find information offline.
Sorting online - using google - through the many B&Bs in Worthing was certainly a time killer. I’ve found a nice little location very close to seafront in the form of the Tudor Guest House on Windsor Road. This is the first time I’ve ever booked a B&B so until I’m there I won’t know what to really expect. The website was simple, but the prices seem good for the town. It looks like it could be a nice, easy and clean B&B to stay at. Having studied google maps the location within the town appears also to be within walking distance of the town centre and the beach pier.
Feeling confident of my selection, I think my search online for a suitable B&B has come up trumps. For £35 a night I think this is fine when considering the location of the building, within proximity to the seafront and town centre.
The roads along the seafront look long and straight. I can only hope there’s not going to be young joy riders in their modified cars driving round at unthinkable speeds in the town centre during the late evenings. Would I sleep?
I’ve seen TV programs showing the extent of what trouble joy riding can cause. Luckily in my town this does not seem to happen too much. You get the odd idiot who drives down the road beeping his horn at 3am in the morning, but even such a case happens few and far between nowadays. Maybe the offender moved house.
The following day I receive confirmation that my booking has been made. That’s great! Come nearer to the time of departure, I will just need to find a route down to Worthing by car and I’m ready.
This will be the first time I meet an online friend. Hopefully if I have a good experience from this, then in future who knows, I meet more online friends if I’m lucky. However I’m trying not to build up my own expectations from meeting an online friend, but who knows what will happen?
